2011 in Review with Bob Smith BMW

Happy New Year from all of us here at Bob Smith BMW! Before we jump headfirst into 2012, we'd like to take a minute to look back over all of the milestones of 2011, including three new models from BMW, among many other accomplishments from the German automaker. BMW not only forged a few new partnerships this year, they expanded production of models and materials.

Yes, BMW was very busy this year. First, they introduced the all-new 6 Series Convertible and Coupe, both of which are available with xDrive all-wheel drive. Then, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe and Active-E all-electric vehicle hit the market. 2011 also marked the debut of BMW i, or "Born Electric," a new division of futuristic BMW models, including the i3 and i8.

Meanwhile, they were busy bolstering production across the United States. The newly-expanded BMW facility located in Spartanburg, SC opened. Thanks to the $750-million investment from BMW, the 240,000 units produced there annually, including the BMW X3, BMW X5 and BMW X6, are bound for even more global markets. Another investment with SGL Group assisted in the opening of a carbon-fiber manufacturing plant in Washington State. Thanks to this partnership, BMW will be able to manufacture the ultra-strong and super-lightweight material for implementation in future models like the BMW i3 and i8.

This wasn't the only partnership BMW entered into this year. In 2011, BMW collaborated with the US Olympic Team to assist 11 Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls. And then, to further global dialogue about urban and sustainable living, the BMW Guggenheim Lab kicked off in New York City. Over the next six years, the lab will travel the globe, spurring urban lifestyle conversations in major cities around the world.

Yes, it's certainly been a big year - and these are just a few of the major highlights. But we hope this highlights that BMW is more than just a luxury car brand, it embodies the spirit of the ultimate in performance, sustainability, and style. And, the point is, really, we can't wait to see what BMW has in store for 2012.

That said, be sure to stay tuned with Bob Smith BMW, 24500 Calabasas Rd Calabasas, CA 91302 for more exciting news and updates from the Bavarian automaker.
